PRAS
PRAS, standing for Paradise Rubber Athletic Shoes, make some very well made mainly canvas sneakers, trainers or plimsols, whichever you prefer. Think Converse et al but on heat and more durably made.
PRAS use a method called vulcanisation to bond the sole of the shoe to the upper. It is a rare, time consuming process performed by using extreme heat in a kiln to bond the rubber sole and edging to the canvas upper and is a process that only two factories in Japan can do. It makes them much more durable than glueing or cementing them.
Combine that with quality materials such as their custom produced Hanpu cotton which is woven in Kojima, Japan, on vintage Toyoda looms, the non slip rubber sole, double stitching in areas of stress and quality cotton laces and you have a sneaker that is a real step up from your average basic pair and that is made to last.
