The Apron Front Derby Boots from Joe Works Shoemaker look and feel like a very refined and well executed dressier country boot. They can be dressed up, down and sidewards, are extremely comfortable out of the box and are so very easy to look after.
The Last: Is Joe Works own #6 last which is their widest/ fullest last. It is very comfortable for a wide range of feet. Slim to average in the heel, shapely and average width in the mid foot and waist, good width at the ball for your average foot which then tapers towards the toe. The taper really does not feel constrictive or tight in the right size as there is good volume over the toes and although structured the leather is pliable so there is movement there.
The Leather: Is hatch grain cowhide from Horween. It’s tough stuff! Pliable but has a slight stiff feel to begin with. It will give and shape well, is easy to look after with a wipe over and will age fantastically with very little care.
Construction: Is stunning! They are so very very neat. They are Goodyear Welted to a very high standard. Flat welted, have meticulous stitching throughout and the finish is some of the best we have seen. They are all hand made (except for the outsole Goodyear/ outsole stitching), have a padded leather insole and are glove leather lined. Rugged Luxury!
