The Jodhpur boots, maybe not everyones cup of tea but we love them, particularly how Joe Works have executed them. They are stunning, beautifully made, sleek but with a great balance of heft (we asked for double mid sole to keep them slightly work booty) and slender and they are so very comfortable and versatile. They are trophy boots for sure (but you really should wear them).
The Last: Is Joe Works own #1 last which is more of a slender dress shoe last. It is slim to average in the heel, very shapely and average width in the mid foot and waist with nice curves, surprisingly good in width at the ball for your average foot and then tapers heavily towards the toe. On first inspection we thought they would feel very slim on but it really is not the case, they feel nice in roomy in width through most of the foot. The taper really does not feel constrictive or tight in the right size as there is reasonable volume over the toes and although structured the leather is pliable so there is movement there.
The Leather: Is beautiful. Very plush high end calf leather from Italy, surprisingly hefty/ thick but very pliable with such a nice lustre and depth of colour. It is lovely and we really hope to see some aged examples further down the line (please?).
Construction: Is stunning! You can tell a lot of work has gone into perfecting and finishing what Joe Works produce. They are so very very neat. They are Goodyear Welted to a very high standard. Flat welted, have meticulous stitching throughout and the finish is some of the best we have seen. They are all hand made (except for the outsole Goodyear/ outsole stitching), have a padded leather insole and are glove leather lined with solid brass rings.
