Classic Roper boots but to John Lofgren standards that come with their very own unique twist and some added finesse.
The Duke Roper is John Lofgrens take on the classic Roper boot. They’ve gone for a classic mid length shaft, low profile Vibram outsole, storm welt and double and triple stitching throughout pattern and there’s not a lot more to say than they are a great everyday pull on boot that is easy on the eye and easy to pair.
The original 170 lasts: Are very shapely, have a nice slim waist with a sleek rounded/ almond toe. There is more info in the size advice tab but unlike many engineers, they are very easy on and off and are fairly generous in the mid foot and heel. The ball and toe feel fairly standard to a bit more narrow, more narrow than the engineers so those with wide feet would need to go up by a half size minimum for JL engineers for example. PLease get in touch with detail on your feet for more info 🙂
Comfort: Is very good. They have a half leather padded heel, 1.25″ heel height, the width of the shaft is well balanced and not as wide as you might think. The model is wearing a 9 US and no problem getting an 8.5″ hem over them. The shaft is also very pliable and will collapse towards the leg with wear.
Construction & finish: Great as usual from John Lofgren. The best materials and construction methods have been used in these boots, just see the DETAILS tab. The stitching is very neat and uniform.
