The 2024 Xmas special from the master bootmakers at John Lofgren are their classic Wabash Engineer boots and M43’s in Horweens Dark Brown waxed flesh leather. Waxed flesh leather is very versatile. It starts off as you see, heavily waxed and gradually overtime the wax starts to wear in areas of stress and movement to reveal the dark Brown roughout leather below giving the boot a very unique worn in look. It is very popular across the ranges we stock. It’s very hard wearing and if you would prefer to keep the waxed look you can simply re-wax them when the time is right.
Thee iconic Engineer Boot has been interpreted in diverse styles since the 1940’s when they were originally made as a shin protecting work boot.
There are huge variations in style, period correctness, use of materials and intended purpose from a lot of the current offerings. We are bound to be biased, of course, but after trying and handling a variety of Engineer Boots over the past few years of varying quality and style, we can honestly say the John Lofgren engineers are amongst the finest in the world today.
The original lasts: Are very shapely, have a nice slim waist with a sleek rounded toe, are snug throughout the foot (as they should be when sized correctly) with enough toe wiggle room.
Comfort: Is immediate. Padded footbed, well sized ankle straps for keeping heel slip to a minimum, great heel height, the width of the shaft is well balanced so you can still get your more tapered denims on and considering the materials and amount of heavy leather used, the weight is surprisingly light making them very comfortable for all day wear.
Construction & finish: The best materials and construction methods have been used in these boots, just see the DETAILS tab. The stitching is very neat and uniform, the heel well balanced and elegantly shaped and the sole trim is even and nicely done.
