Please note, both the Black HB and the Burgundy HB engineer boots have mixed grain meaning some pairs will have the heavy grain across the boots (like you see on the Burgundy pair) and some won’t. Please contact us before ordering your size if you have a preference and we can describe your pair for you and take pictures if needs be. Both pairs in the images are 8.5 US and we have only one pair per size.
The extremely popular John Lofgren engineer boots have been given the Shinki Hikaku treatment and a flat welt to give them a more dressy look. It works so well! Shinki Hikaku is known as one of the best tanneries in the world for Horse leather and is showcased so well on these engineers. The leather is stiff to begin with with an almost shell like feel that will quickly relax, soften and shape as you break them in.
The original lasts: Are very shapely, have a nice slim waist with a sleek rounded toe, are snug throughout the foot (as they should be when sized correctly) with enough toe wiggle room.
Comfort: Is immediate. Padded footbed, well sized ankle straps for keeping heel slip to a minimum, great heel height, the width of the shaft is well balanced so you can still get your more tapered denims on and considering the materials and amount of heavy leather used, the weight is surprisingly light making them very comfortable for all day wear.
Construction & finish: The best materials and construction methods have been used in these boots, just see the DETAILS tab. The stitching is very neat and uniform, the heel well balanced and elegantly shaped and the sole trim is even and nicely done.
