The Steadfast Chukka’s are quite simply great all day, all outfit boots (hmm, joggers?) which, due to the beautiful and supple French Calfskin and impeccable construction and finish (as usual) have a real high end feel in an every day pair of easy to wear boots. We think that was the aim and it’s been very well executed.
They are made on the same lasts as the John Lofgren engineer boots so have a nice non bulbous rounded toe, shapely waist and are very well balanced. They are comfortable out of the box and the overall lower profile make them a great boot to be worn dressed up with some heft or dressed down. They are a great all rounder and feel great in the hand. See the size guide for more info on fit.
The construction is superb! The stitching, as carried out by the fastidious artisans of Japan, is very neat and uniform, the sole is trimmed in neatly and is very well balanced, particularly for a 360 welt as this can often lead to a cumbersome looking and feeling heel but not here.
The French Calfskin feels like a great choice in terms of weight, aesthetics and how it will age, very luxurious but also substantial enough to last many a resole.
