The Loro Flame Zip boots are a real work of Western styled art. They are the same boot as Rolling Dub Trio’s extremely popular Loro boots but cut short, with a heavy duty side zip opening and with some added very intricate and heavily stitched embroidery and toe bugs. They are Mantlepiece boots (but do please wear them!).
Made on their self modified munson style last they are standard width in the heel, shapely in the instep (without feeling too tight there), have a fairly generous D width ball/ mid to front of foot and then taper at the toe’s to a square pegged shape. The are not overly square looking though as the wide aggressive double row of hand sewn construction rounds them off nicely. They also have quite a low arch/ instep and very slim shaft so beware though with high arches or those that are heavier at the back of the foot.
Our boots comparison man (me) has high insteps/ arches and can quite often struggle with getting engineers and low profile boots on in general and he has found them quite difficult to get them on in his size (8) similar to a number of engineer boots. Once on, the pressure in that area was fine and felt very snug but comfortable. They are overall very very comfortable glove like boots when you get them on.
The leather is thick Black Horsebutt leather from Italy. It is a beautiful, subtle grained leather that is very pliable but tough in feel and has a lovely lustre. The shaft is a textured/ shrunken Goatskin which is thick-ish but very pliable for comfort. They are also kip leather lined for the ultimate in glove like feel.
The Flame stitchwork is beautiful and uses 20 stitches and 6 colours compared to an average of 5 so the level of detail and time taken for these boots is remarkable.
As always with Rolling Dub Trio the materials and construction are all top notch and will last and last. The construction is fantastic, the patterns are well matched, the trim is equal and they just feel like an extremely well executed and beautiful pair of boots. Bravo!
If like us you like Western Styled boots then you have found one of the best. They are mantelpiece worthy.
