The “Roots” boots are part of Rolling Dub Trio’s masterpiece collection, and deservedly so. The leather, construction, design, style and finesse that has gone into them is very apparent when you hold a pair. They are a very well executed pair of boots.

The modified Munson last is very accommodating and great for a wide range of foot shapes. It has a wide and low profile that will be very forgiving through the break-in process. They are not slim but low volume across the middle of the foot (which will give and shape) and open out at the ball, allowing for good width at the toes. The Munson last is a real favourite. It is very comfortable and easy to wear. Looks great too!

The Horsebutt leather from Italy is thick but pliable, has a beautiful lustre, is harder wearing than cordovan and looks even better with wear and patina. The CXL leather that RDT use for a number of their boots is a real step up from other CXL out there in the market and the Horsebutt leather really is some of the nicest we’ve seen. It has subtle grain and a very robust feel.

The construction is superb. Heavy duty and uniform stitching, kip leather lined, full hand-sewn stitchdown construction which is neatly finished, rubber cork soles which are comfortable and hard wearing, Quabaug heels and a cushioned full leather insole.

The Roots line of boots were designed to showcase Rolling Dub Trio’s superior craftmanship in making comfortable timeless footwear and that’s simply what they have achieved.

Made in Japan by a very small team of craftsmen and fully resole-able.

  • Horsebutt Leather from Italy
  • Handsewn Stitchdown Construction
  • Heavy duty oak tanned midsole
  • Rubberised cork outsole
  • Quabaug rubber heels
  • Kip leather lined
  • Cushioned leather in-sole
  • Leather pull loop

  • D-E Width

The Roots Munson last boots are a standard D width but are low profile/ volume across the middle of the foot and so will feel slightly slimmer until they are broken in. We recommend going for your usual RDT size (also see below) but start off wearing a thinner sock for the first few weeks wear as due to the construction they will give and shape to your feet in a short time.

An 8 US in the Roots boot is similar in length to:

  • RDT Stan/ Casper/ Coupen: 7.5 – 8 US
  • White’s Semi Dress Boots: 7.5-8D US
  • White’s Smoke Jumpers: 7.5D US
  • Attractions Lot 444: 8 US
  • Red Wing Iron Rangers: 8.5 US (7.5 UK)
  • Viberg: 8 (2030 last)
  • Trickers: 8 G
  • John Lofgren Engineers: 8 US
  • John Lofgren Donkey Punchers: 7.5 US
