The EB-143 Cossack jacket from Y’2 Leather is a stripped back, dress up or down beautifully put together jacket with some very fine materials. We asked Y’2 to modify their original pattern slightly by replacing the buttoned patch pockets with simple hand warmers to give the jacket a cleaner, simpler aesthetic that can be worn on all occasions. It worked a treat. It looks great.
The leather: is a 1.4mm vegetable tanned horsehide that feels quite heavy and a bit stiff initially (not as stiff as some) but has a luxurious sheen that makes it feel pliable and gives you confidence that it will soften and shape very quickly. Each hide is hand dyed after tanning to give it a non uniform appearance. The colour ranges across the jacket ever so slightly from a dark Brown to an almost Black very dark Brown. It’s subtle but gives the jackets lovely character and depth. The grain is mixed and the pictures detail generally what it is like across the jacket. Neither heavy or fine, very nice!
In terms of fit, it’s great. Very well proportioned all over, not too boxy or tailored slim looking. For reference Mr model is 5Ft 11″ on a good day, circa 85 KG’s, long in the torso with a fairly wide chest/back and average shoulders and wears a size 40. He could comfortably have worn a flannel shirt/ thicker layer underneath with ease (take a look at the sizing info). The best description would be a jacket that fits and looks great in the right size that is not restrictive for arm and shoulder movement and that doesn’t look oversized.
There are details galore including moleskin body lining, cotton lined sleeves, 2 internal leather trimmed pockets and heavy duty brass side buckles. It comes supplied with Y’2 branded quality jacket hanger and branded coat bag.
The finish, as is to be expected form a company that specialise in leather jackets from Japan, great. Very neat, solid and all well aligned.
This is a lifetime jacket that will look and feel superb the more you wear it. Enjoy!
