The BMC AD-10 jacket from Addict Clothes Japan is quite the masterpiece and based on the very popular 1960’s British racing jackets. Satoshi (owner & designer) is obsessed with vintage British motorcycle everything so it is no surprise the BMC jacket was an early recreation for him and even less so that he has taken an iconic jacket and improved it. It’s a utilitarian, easy wear, well made and executed daily beater of a jacket that will only get better with time and wear.
It’s a great fitting jacket and one that feels and looks great layered up or down. It is fitted in the shoulder and upper body with an almost straight cut down to the hem. With time the body will drape and shape to the wearer and will be truly unique to you. For reference Mr model is 5Ft 11″ on a good day, circa 87 KG’s, long in the torso with a fairly wide chest and wears a size 42. He could comfortably have worn a flannel shirt/ thicker layer underneath with ease (take a look at the sizing info).
The details: 4 large brass snapped front pockets with either gusseting or a zip under the top 2, 3 brass air vent holes under the pits and even more importantly, a removable wool/ nylon liner for the changing seasons which is easily attached/ detached via a leather strap and brass poppers. It is check flannel cotton lined (cupro sleeves), and has one buttoned internal pocket. The collar and cuffs are lined with heavy corduroy for comfort and the zips and buckles are heavy duty Addict branded brass. Very cool! The details are superb.
The sheepskin the sheepskin! Subtle grain, tea core so the underlying lighter Brown tones will show through with wear (see the last pictures). The weight is perfect. It’s not flimsy and it’s not overly heavy/ thick, just that perfect wearable weight for the majority of the year with or without the wool liner. It’s very comfortable immediately and feels like you are wearing the jacket instead of the other way around. This jacket has sold us on sheepskin leather.
The finish, as is to be expected form a company that specialise in leather jackets from Japan, great. Very neat and all well aligned.
The BMC is a great everyday, on and off the bike jacket that will age to perfection and soon become your second skin.
