The John Lofgren Bootmaker Champion Sneakers are sneakers yes but as with everything that John Lofgren produces, they are made to last and be best in class.
In their own words:
John Lofgren Bootmaker Champion Sneakers are built in Japan at one of the last remaining vulcanizing rubber sneaker factories. The factory is owned by Moonstar, and they’ve been in the business since 1873. Our JLB Champion sneakers are built to a higher standard than the typical Moonstar sneaker. We supply our own heavier fabrics, use double thick soles, fabric tape all edges and double stitch all stress points. Their highly skilled craftsmen and women can handle all our requests. We don’t do “typical.”

The John Lofgren Bootmaker Champion sneakers (trainers over here) fit a touch smaller than UK sizing and other JLB footwear. We would recommend you go a half size up from other JLB boots (dependent how your boots fit you) as detailed below. They are fairly standard fit, a flexible D width but of course the beauty of them being sneakers is that you can size up a half for a bit more width without them feeling or looking too long.
An 8.5 US in the Champions fit similar to:
JL Engineers: 8
JL Combat Boots: 8
JL Donkey Puncher: 7.5
JL Chukka: 8.5 (8 is more comparable in length but the Chukkas fit very close)
Rolling Dub Trio Coupen/ Stan Last: 7.5 US
Red Wing Iron Ranger: 8.5 US (7.5 UK)
Viberg: 7.5 – 8 (2030 and 2040 last)
White’s Boots: 7.5-8 D width
Attractions engineers: 8- 8.5 US
Truman Boots (updated last): 8 – 8.5
Trickers (and majority of British brands): 7.5-8 G/F
