(The sizing has changed on the Donkey Puncher boots. What used to be a 7.5 US is now stamped as 8 US to standardise the sizing across the John Lofgen range)
The John Lofgren Donkey Punchers are John’s take on the classic American Logger Boot. Built for work and of course play they are very versatile in purpose and style.
The Cognac Badalassi leather is rich, luxurious heavy duty cowhide from the very esteemed Badalassi tannery in Italy. The colour is vibrant and will darken with wear to a very rich deep tan. It’s a lovely hard wearing choice to wear with all colours.
As with the Engineer Boots the original lasts used are very stylish, have a nice shapely slim waist (instep area) with a sleek rounded toe. They are quite voluminous inside with plenty of room for the toe’s and thicker socks but still manage to retain a very balanced and non cumbersome profile which is complimented nicely by the woodsman heel. They are very comfortable out of the box and will only get more so as they mould to your foot.
The construction is superb! The stitching, as carried out by the fastidious artisans of Japan, is very neat and uniform, the heel well balanced against the whole boot and is elegantly shaped. The overall finish (including the sole trim) is very nicely done and considering the materials and amount of heavy leather and components used, the weight is suprisingly light, making them very comfortable for all day wear.
