The John Lofgren Bootmaker USN Low Quarter shoes are yet another great example of Lofgrens ability to take an authentic vintage pattern, reimagine it in a more robust and slightly built up construction and deliver it in a very comfortable and wearable everyday pair of handsome footwear.
The original 140 last is very shapely, has a standard – generous mid foot, nice slim waist with a a fairly wide ball and toe without it being bulbous. Although wide it is quite a shallow last so looks and feels quite low profile throughout. It’s a great shaped last, very comfortable and just feels good on for all day wear.
Comfort: Is immediate. The padded leather heel and well balanced heel feel great.
The leather is a luxurious French Calfskin that is finished in Japan. It is flat in grain, will develop nice smooth rolls in the leather and be easy to keep looking smart should you so desire.
Construction & finish: The best materials and construction methods have been used in these shoes as with all JLB shoes and boots, just see the DETAILS tab. The stitching is very neat and uniform, the heel well balanced and elegantly shaped and the sole trim is even and nicely done.
