White’s Semi Dress Boots – Swing Last – Distressed RO

Classic White’s Semi Dress boots but this time on the controversial swing last. We say controversial because it tends to divide opinion. The last is an exaggerated Munson style military last which fits fairly standard through the heel and mid foot but widens out at the ball and then tapers again at the toe. We often get requests for wider widths to accommodate broader feet and the swing last is the answer. They look and feel great when on, good toe wiggle room without a cramped feel, low profile across the toe and wider looking but not at all clown like. The hardy distressed roughout leather, without the toe structure, really helps give them a more wide and sleek look that will get much better with age.

White’s Semi-Dress boots have the same superb qualities as shared by all White’s work styled boots in a slightly simpler style for everyday and/ or every-evening wear! Often slightly less rugged in appearance than the Smoke-Jumpers but built to last all the same.

Every pair of White’s work boots are individually hand crafted from start to finish and are made to withstand the toughest of environments.

Construction: All leather, no synthetic materials or fillers are used. Stitch-down construction for strength, comfort and ability to resole. Stitched throughout with heavy gauge waxed thread. Flexible oak tanned leather mid soles, optional Vibram outer soles, strong all-leather shank custom shaped to fit your foot and the finest leather uppers that will only get better with age makes White’s a real work horse of a boot.

The swing last Semi Dress boots fit quite true to our general rule with White’s, which is, go for the same size as your UK size so 8 UK, go for 8 US in White’s.  However, the swing last has a much wider toe for the wide footed of us out there. Please see our recent guide here for a more in depth guide on sizing of all the brands we stock.

A size 8 in this boots feels like the below but with a wider toe:

John Lofgren Engineers: 8 – 8.5

John Lofgren M43: 8.5

White’s Smoke Jumper (lace to toe): 7.5

Red Wing (majority of styles): 8.5 – 9US

Rolling Dub Trio: 7.5 – 8 (similar in length)

Viberg 2030 last: 8 (Viberg boot sizing)

White’s are sized in US sizes but generally fit quite true to UK sizing, so a 9US is a very similar fit to true UK size 9 (EU 43). The majority of our White’s boots are in a D width fitting which is the US average and comparable to a UK G/F. They have plenty of toe wiggle room and are snug (as they should be) through the rest of the boot.
