The Y’2 Leather ER-42-SP SINGLE RIDERS jacket is a Y’2 special and a one off, no more to be made. They have taken one of their best selling jackets and slightly thinned one of their best selling leathers and made a great looking jacket in a superb leather that is easier to break and wear than their Eco Horse would normally be. It is still pretty substantial though, quite the beast.
Y’2 have taken their heaviest stock leather ECO Horse and thinned it out to 1.5mm (still quite heavy duty) in order to make a one off medium to heavier weight and very easily wearable classic tea core Black leather jacket. The leather is very luxurious in feel and has mixed grain, heavier in places and unobvious panels and very fine grain in more visible areas. It is supple and forgiving even if fairly stiff on first try and will age perfectly with minimal care.
It’s a slimmer fitting jacket and one that feels and looks great layered up or down. It is well proportioned all over with a more modern slimmer fit to the waist and sleeves. It tapers at the waist and opens out slightly to the hem and the sleeves and back length are slightly longer than your average as the jacket is styled for riding. For reference Mr model is 5Ft 11″ on a good day, circa 84 KG’s, long in the torso with a fairly wide chest/ mid back and wears a size 44. He could comfortably have worn a flannel shirt/ thicker layer underneath with ease. Take a look at the size chart and sizing info for more detail about the fit and dimensions.
There are details galore including solid brass side adjusters, universal central and chest pocket zips, back/ shoulder action pleats as part of the style for ease of movement, two slash hand warmer pockets and one leather bound internal pocket. The lining for this special edition jacket is a crisp and hard wearing cotton/ wool twill mix from the UK and is a rich army tan colour. The sleeves are lined in nylon for ease of movement.
The finish, as is to be expected form a company that specialise in leather jackets from Japan, great. Very neat and all well aligned.
This is a lifetime jacket that will look and feel superb the more you wear it. Enjoy!
Y’2 Leather ER-42-SP SINGLE RIDERS Jacket fit’s smaller/ slimmer than most Y’2 patterns and about two sizes smaller than traditional Western sizes but is well albeit slimly proportioned throughout. The “model” is wearing a 44 and it is a good fit, slightly longer in the body and sleeve until the creases kick in but not restrictive in the shoulders and chest and he can wear or t-shirt or thicker shirt/ sweater comfortably. The arms feel quite slim in the forearm area so this would be a better fit for slimmer frames/ non athletic shapes.
The model generally takes a medium-large/ 16 / 38-40 in most Western sized tops, shirts and jackets and Large/ 40-42 in most Japanese clothing.
He is 5ft 10-11″ tall (180 cm), medium build/ large chest and mid back, weighing in at roughly 84 KG.
Thicker leather jackets, particularly horsehide like this tend to crease up and shape to the wearer more permanently than softer thinner leathers so advice would be to always oversize slightly, similar to the model and it will shape to your body better without feeling restrictive.
