We are big Pecos and pull on boots fans and, for very good reason, we wanted to expand what we stock from Zerrows and so, you can see what we did here. The Zerrows Pecos are classic, very very well made, heavily stitched with piped and reinforced side seams (a lot of work) and in a great pattern using a very nicely shaped last. We really like them!
They are made on Zerrows lower round toe last. This really is a lovely silhouette, low rounded/ slightly squared toe with good width and not much taper but enough not to be bulky. It is slim and very curvy in the waist with good arch support (not White’s like but on it’s way) and normal to slim in the heel. It is low profile across the mid foot and toes but with enough height for your toes not to rub which gradually rises above the arch to make it easier to get them on. The shaft is slim for tighter hems as well but with enough width at the ankle to help ease them on.
Comfort: Immediate, it is a very easy fit and not fussy at all, quite good for a mix of foot shapes as there is medium arch support (not flat, not exaggerated) and there is volume over your foot to adapt as they break in.
The Leather: Dargres Leather is a heavy weight cowhide which is a bit more matt in colour depth than CXL for example but is also rich and ages beautifully with age. It has a nice subtle sheen and can be polished up and looked after or worn hard to reveal a more vintage look and feel to it. It is very pliable and easy to look after.
Construction & finish: The best materials and construction methods have been used in these boots, just see the DETAILS tab. The stitching is very neat and uniform, the heel well balanced and elegantly shaped and the sole trim is even and nicely done.
What’s more, they even come with extra leather insoles that you can add or remove to adjust the fit.
Made in Japan by people who really know what they are doing.
