The Yeager boots from Clinch (Brass Tokyo) are here, are great and feel like “rugged” kung Fu boots! Well they are not but something about the snugness of the fit, the lightweight durability and how they look and feel on just screams Kung Fu!

There is a lot of info below about Clinch boots and how they are made, but when it comes to the Yeager boots, for us, it’s all about the last, the sculpted insole and how comfortable and grounded they feel. What you’ll notice first is how non beefy and lightweight they feel. This contrasts with what we tend to think (us included), that well made and made to last footwear has to feel burly and heavy but, in the case of the Yeager boots, it’s the opposite. They are sneaker like in weight but far from flimsy and when you slip them on they just feel right. That is a claim that might not work for everyone but we try a lot of boot lasts and this last feels very very natural when on.

The stitchwork, materials etc.. as detailed below about Clinch boots are all very top notch and in terms of fit, the size info tab will give you more info but for these slippers of boots to work for you, you would ideally have a slimmer foot with non splayed toes. Saying that, I have fairly wide feet (D/E width) and quite high arches and tried them with a lighter weight socks and my feet slipped in easily, felt a little tight/ restrictive across the bottom of the toes (where they are very low profile) and felt great in all other area’s. The toe is unstructured and the RO leather is pliable so they will give and shape in the more restrictive parts to develop into the perfect fit. They feel superb on, like a much more supportive and sturdy climbing or Kung Fu shoe!

Take a look at the sizing info tab for a bit more depth but really wide or meaty feet won’t get on with them, slim to average width/ height feet will love them. The slim waist and tapered toe feel surprisingly natural and this profile looks fantastic to. We think they will look equally at home under slim or wider hems.

The Clinch Yeager Boots as with all of their boots are great examples of extremes. In a very good way. With all of the makers we stock it would be very difficult to criticise what they produce within their price range as they all have their merits and benefits and that is why we stock them. Clinch are no different in that sense because what you see is a beautiful and charming pair of boots but what you feel and notice when in hand is all the thought and work that has gone into them.

In terms of delivering what the boot connoisseur appreciates in the “workboot/ real boots” marketplace, Clinch boots really do tick all the boxes. They represent the best of the best in small ethical production, all hand made, old world construction, art, beauty and superior materials. Hand: cut, sewn (upper, insole & welt), soaked, lasted, nailed, sanded and trimmed all in a small workshop in Tokyo.

The lasts are truly original, very handsome and angular/ chiselled and shaped like pre war dress boots but due to the toe shape, materials and construction methods they have a more masculine and slightly dressy-workboot appearance. The lasts are made from carved wood, the same as they used to be before the day’s of mass production.

Wooden lasts also mean the boots can only be constructed through hand welting which is a very time consuming and exacting process but also one which can offer unrivalled fit after break in and a truly personal and unique finish.

Clinch are extremely particular about all aspects of their boots and sourcing of the right materials has been and is just as detailed and time consuming as the making. The majority of components are sourced from Japan whereas the leathers have been carefully selected from specific specialist tanners around the World.

Sizing information

The Clinch Yeager boots are on their CN-S last and have a very sculpted, slim and low profile fit. It really adds to their style, charm and how they feel on, which is great, but if you have thicker/ meaty feet in in volume around the ball area and/ or just behind they will feel tight there on first try, they will give a bit though. The width in the ball area is actually quite good and the tapered toe is soft and doesn't feel restrictive on the toes. Clinch boots are sized this way: 8.5 UK/9 US/ 10 Clinch Size. Shipping & Returns

A couple of notes:

We ship Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays (and between if possible) using next day for the UK and expedited for the rest of the World including the EU. Tracking information will be sent to you by email at the time of shipping.

To keep things nice and simple and just incase you need to return an item the shipping cost has not been calculated into the price of your item/s. We feel that this way it is transparent and can price the item accordingly and not inflate the item cost to cover free shipping.

The shipping rate is calculated on the heaviest item in your cart/ basket only so no need to worry that you’ll be charged twice.

Next day with UPS if ordered before 10am.

UK Returns:

Please contact us letting us know you wish to return an item.

Items must be unworn, all tags and associated packaging attached and in the condition you received them. PLEASE TRY SHOES & BOOTS ON ON A CARPETED SURFACE to keep the sole in new condition. We do understand the need to try on boots for a short time to assess the fit but creased leather or signs of longer wear will not be deemed as being in brand new condition and as you received them.

Return shipping is your responsibility (unless the item is faulty) and we would suggest sending the item by an insured (for the full value) and recorded method, as they are your responsibility until we receive them back. We can also arrange to email you a UPS returns label and deduct £10 from your refund or invoice you the same amount if it is an exchange.
Returns must be received within 14 (UK) and 14 (EU/ International) days of the date of delivery. Any returns received after this time will result in either an exchange or shop credit being offered only.

Once the goods are received back and inspected satisfactorily we will issue a full refund minus initial shipping costs within 24 hours to the original source of payment. Please leave up to 7 days for the refund to show on your payment source.

NON UK Returns:

Please use a shipping service of your choice. We recommend insuring the item. We potentially can arrange return shipping depending on your country so please get in touch to find out the cost.

If returning items from outside of the UK it is important that you mark the items as a RETURNED ORDER/ GOODS.

Please also declare the value at no more than £50 (or the equivalent in your country’s currency). If you do not do this, we will end up paying taxes and duties on the item for a second time around which will have to be deducted from your refund. Please do insure the parcel for the full value as the item is your responsibility until we receive it back.

All other conditions are as for the UK.

Upon receipt of returned items, we will issue a full refund for the amount paid for the items only or give an exchange or credit as required.

The exchange item will be sent out to you with free Shipping within the UK and at a discounted rate for EU and International customers. Please note that only the first exchange item will be sent out with free/ discounted shipping. Any subsequent exchanges will incur normal shipping charges, which will be payable prior to the item being shipped. We will contact you with shipping costs.

EU EXCHANGES: Unfortunately we cannot cover the import fees (VAT/ Any duty) for the exchanged import to the EU. We cannot recoup the costs of the initial import and so therefore it would mean too much of a loss for a small business like ours. We will make it very clear on the exchange paperwork that it is an exchange and be as helpful on the paperwork as it allows so that the fee’s are kept to a minimum.
