John Lofgrens Monkey Boots as with all his boots have taken a while in development, getting the right balance of heft, comfort, shape and materials doesn’t happen overnight. They nailed it with these boots. They are a very easy wearing, solid feeling and immediately comfortable boot out of the box. The leather, from Horween, is a pull up, similar in feel to Chromexcel, rich in tone and will age well and shape quickly to the wearers foot.
The last: Very shapely, similar in shape to the engineer and combat boots. It has a nice slim waist with a sleek rounded toe, are forgiving but not wide throughout the foot (as they should be when sized correctly) with plenty toe wiggle room. Due to the lace to toe design of monkey boots they are very accommodating for the various foot widths.
Comfort: These are very comfortable boots from the moment you slide your foot in. The leather feels solid but pliable, the heel is well balanced and the whole of the underfoot feels assured but not heavy.
Construction & finish: The best materials and construction methods have been used in these boots, just see the DETAILS tab. The stitching is very neat and uniform, the heel well balanced and elegantly shaped and the sole trim is even and nicely done.
Great boots, done very well.
