The Y’2 Leather A2 jacket is the result of a vintage A2 study, pattern perfecting and development. It is a very refined and luxurious take on the classic military A2 and is a real beauty!

The chosen horsehide is a pull up leather which is vegetable tanned and heavily infused with oils to give a real depth of colour and great ageing potential. Starting off with a heavy sheen from the start the jacket will age beautifully as the leather softens dulls in places and shapes to the wearer revealing different shades of Brown in heavier areas of use. We really look forward to seeing some examples of this leather broken in (please?).

It’s a classic A2 fit and one that feels and looks great layered up or down. It is well proportioned all over, maybe slightly slimmer in the arms and shoulder than other examples but still keeping within the traditional A2 type fits. Take a look at our size advice but for reference Mr model is 5Ft 10″ on a good day, circa 84 KG’s, long in the torso with a fairly wide chest and wears a size 42. He could comfortably have worn a heavy weight shirt/ sweater with a slight tightness to the arms that will give and shape as the leather softens and molds.

The details are galore and detailed in the images, popper patch pockets, wool elasticated waistband and cuffs, Olive drab lined (satin sleeves), metal armpit air holes, popper collar and a waldes heavy duty zipper.

The finish, as is to be expected form a company that specialise in leather jackets from Japan, great. Very neat and all well aligned.

This is a lifetime jacket and a real stunner that will look and feel all the better the more you wear it. Enjoy!

Sizing information

The A2 jacket ever so slightly smaller than standard Western sizes. The A2 fit is taken from the original military pattern and is fairly standard fitting in the chest, shoulder and lengths (sleeves and body) but has more of a rounded mid area above the waistband. The mannequin wears a 40 and teh “model” wears a size 42 in the images. The model wears just a t-shirt but could easily wear a thicker layer comfortably. Due to the thick and stiff to begin with leather the arms at the elbow felt a bit restrictive but as the leather softens and shapes that will disappear. He could also wear a 40 but just with a t-shirt or thinner long sleeved top, again, until the leather softens and shapes up.

He is 5ft 10-11″ tall (180 cm), medium build/ larger chest, weighing in at roughly 83 KG.

Thicker leather jackets, particularly horsehide tend to crease up and shape the the wearer more permanently than softer thinner leathers so advice would be to always oversize slightly, similar to the model and it will shape to your body better without feeling restrictive. This Steerhide though will behave like a thinner leather although it is a heavier weight for suede.

Bear in mind that a horsehide jacket less pliable and giving than many fabric or soft leather jackets you may own so for ease of movement you might want to go for the larger size if on the fence.

Shipping & Returns

A couple of notes:

We ship Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays (and between if possible) using next day for the UK and expedited for the rest of the World including the EU. Tracking information will be sent to you by email at the time of shipping.

To keep things nice and simple and just incase you need to return an item the shipping cost has not been calculated into the price of your item/s. We feel that this way it is transparent and can price the item accordingly and not inflate the item cost to cover free shipping.

The shipping rate is calculated on the heaviest item in your cart/ basket only so no need to worry that you’ll be charged twice.

We hope you are happy with your item/s but if for any reason you do need to return or exchange an item then we offer a full no hassle refund or exchange providing yiou adhere to the below.

Please Note: Any items such as custom/ special ordered boots or items that have been altered in any way at your request or whilst in your possession are non-returnable/ refundable unless faulty when received. UK Returns:

Please contact us letting us know you wish to return an item.

Items must be unworn, all tags and associated packaging attached and in the condition you received them. PLEASE TRY SHOES & BOOTS ON ON A CARPETED SURFACE to keep the sole in new condition. We do understand the need to try on boots for a short time to assess the fit but creased leather or signs of longer wear will not be deemed as being in brand new condition and as you received them.

Return shipping is your responsibility (unless the item is faulty) and we would suggest sending the item by an insured (for the full value) and recorded method, as they are your responsibility until we receive them back. We can also arrange to email you a UPS returns label and deduct £10 from your refund or invoice you the same amount if it is an exchange.
Returns must be received within 14 (UK) and 14 (EU/ International) days of the date of delivery. Any returns received after this time will result in either an exchange or shop credit being offered only.

Once the goods are received back and inspected satisfactorily we will issue a full refund minus initial shipping costs within 24 hours to the original source of payment. Please leave up to 7 days for the refund to show on your payment source.

NON UK Returns:

Please use a shipping service of your choice. We recommend insuring the item. We potentially can arrange return shipping depending on your country so please get in touch to find out the cost.

If returning items from outside of the UK it is important that you mark the items as a RETURNED ORDER/ GOODS.

Please also declare the value at no more than £50 (or the equivalent in your country’s currency). If you do not do this, we will end up paying taxes and duties on the item for a second time around which will have to be deducted from your refund. Please do insure the parcel for the full value as the item is your responsibility until we receive it back.

All other conditions are as for the UK.

Upon receipt of returned items, we will issue a full refund for the amount paid for the items only or give an exchange or credit as required.

Exchanges:

Please inform us by email that you wish to exchange for a different size/ item and if in stock we will reserve your exchange item for you or alternatively order your size/ item in especially for you (subject to availability).

The exchange item will be sent out to you with free Shipping within the UK and at a discounted rate for EU and International customers. Please note that only the first exchange item will be sent out with free/ discounted shipping. Any subsequent exchanges will incur normal shipping charges, which will be payable prior to the item being shipped. We will contact you with shipping costs.

EU EXCHANGES: Unfortunately we cannot cover the import fees (VAT/ Any duty) for the exchanged import to the EU. We cannot recoup the costs of the initial import and so therefore it would mean too much of a loss for a small business like ours. We will make it very clear on the exchange paperwork that it is an exchange and be as helpful on the paperwork as it allows so that the fee’s are kept to a minimum.
