Description

The DR-45 jacket from Y’2 Leather is a favourite and we’ve restocked it a number of times now as it ticks a lot of boxes. We asked Y’2 to modify their original pattern slightly by removing the hand pocket stitching to tone down the sports element a tad and give it a cleaner look (sports jacket meets single riders) and it came out great. The thick Deer Skin is also perfect for the cooler and colder months and great with a tee in Spring.

The Japanese Deer Skin leather is thick (2mm thickness) but very pliable, it is really comfortable immediately. There will be no break in as it has a spongy softness but watching it break in and develop character, shape and patina will be the real treat.

In terms of fit, it’s great. Very well proportioned all over, not too boxy or tailored slim looking. For reference Mr model is 5Ft 11″ on a good day, circa 83 KG’s, long in the torso with a fairly wide chest and wears a size 40. He can comfortably wear a t-shirt or lighter weight sweat or shirt but for thicker layering he would need the 42 or feel restricted until the Deerskin gives and shapes, which it will. Take a look at the sizing info for more guidance. The best description would be a jacket that fits and looks great in the right size that is not restrictive for arm and shoulder movement and that doesn’t look oversized. Hard to find!

There are details galore including herringbone wool/ cotton mix lined body, cotton lined sleeves, universal zippers, heavy duty brass hardware and, very original for a sports jacket, a concealed popper to the collar to keep is close (A2 style) or open/ shaped like a sports collar. Nice!

It comes supplied with Y’2 branded quality jacket hanger and branded coat bag.

The finish, as is to be expected form a company that specialise in leather jackets from Japan, great. Very neat and all well aligned.

This is a lifetime jacket that will look and feel superb the more you wear it. Enjoy!

Sizing information

The DR-45 jacket fit’s very similar (a tad smaller maybe) to traditional Western sizes and is well proportioned throughout. The “model” is wearing a 40 and it is perfectly snug fitting, he could also wear a 42 without it looking or feeling oversized due to the Deerskin and how it drapes. Due to the pliable heavy leather it doesn’t feel oversized or at all restrictive, it drapes beautifully and will give and shape in all the right areas. He could comfortably wear just a t-shirt or layer up with a medium weight sweater/ flannel.

The model generally takes a medium-large/ 16 / 38-40 in most Western sized tops, shirts and jackets.

He is 5ft 10-11″ tall (180 cm), medium build/ large chest, weighing in at roughly 85 KG.

Thicker leather jackets, particularly horsehide tend to crease up and shape the the wearer more permanently than softer thinner leathers so advice would be to always oversize slightly, similar to the model and it will shape to your body better without feeling restrictive.

Bear in mind that a horsehide jacket less pliable and giving than many fabric or soft leather jackets you may own so for ease of movement you might want to go for the larger size if on the fence.

Shipping & Returns

A couple of notes:

We ship Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays (and between if possible) using next day for the UK and expedited for the rest of the World including the EU. Tracking information will be sent to you by email at the time of shipping.

To keep things nice and simple and just incase you need to return an item the shipping cost has not been calculated into the price of your item/s. We feel that this way it is transparent and can price the item accordingly and not inflate the item cost to cover free shipping.

The shipping rate is calculated on the heaviest item in your cart/ basket only so no need to worry that you’ll be charged twice.

UK Returns:

Please contact us letting us know you wish to return an item.

Items must be unworn, all tags and associated packaging attached and in the condition you received them. PLEASE TRY SHOES & BOOTS ON ON A CARPETED SURFACE to keep the sole in new condition. We do understand the need to try on boots for a short time to assess the fit but creased leather or signs of longer wear will not be deemed as being in brand new condition and as you received them.

Return shipping is your responsibility (unless the item is faulty) and we would suggest sending the item by an insured (for the full value) and recorded method, as they are your responsibility until we receive them back. We can also arrange to email you a UPS returns label and deduct £10 from your refund or invoice you the same amount if it is an exchange.
Returns must be received within 14 (UK) and 14 (EU/ International) days of the date of delivery. Any returns received after this time will result in either an exchange or shop credit being offered only.

Once the goods are received back and inspected satisfactorily we will issue a full refund minus initial shipping costs within 24 hours to the original source of payment. Please leave up to 7 days for the refund to show on your payment source.

NON UK Returns:

Please use a shipping service of your choice. We recommend insuring the item. We potentially can arrange return shipping depending on your country so please get in touch to find out the cost.

If returning items from outside of the UK it is important that you mark the items as a RETURNED ORDER/ GOODS.

Please also declare the value at no more than £50 (or the equivalent in your country’s currency). If you do not do this, we will end up paying taxes and duties on the item for a second time around which will have to be deducted from your refund. Please do insure the parcel for the full value as the item is your responsibility until we receive it back.

All other conditions are as for the UK.

Upon receipt of returned items, we will issue a full refund for the amount paid for the items only or give an exchange or credit as required.

Please inform us by email that you wish to exchange for a different size/ item and if in stock we will reserve your exchange item for you or alternatively order your size/ item in especially for you (subject to availability).

The exchange item will be sent out to you with free Shipping within the UK and at a discounted rate for EU and International customers. Please note that only the first exchange item will be sent out with free/ discounted shipping. Any subsequent exchanges will incur normal shipping charges, which will be payable prior to the item being shipped. We will contact you with shipping costs.

EU EXCHANGES: Unfortunately we cannot cover the import fees (VAT/ Any duty) for the exchanged import to the EU. We cannot recoup the costs of the initial import and so therefore it would mean too much of a loss for a small business like ours. We will make it very clear on the exchange paperwork that it is an exchange and be as helpful on the paperwork as it allows so that the fee’s are kept to a minimum.
